50 Pence Piece Pointillist Pen Drawing
A highly detailed monochrome pen drawing of a well worn 50 Pence Piece.
The coin was first introduced in 1969, with this particular example from 1997 when slightly smaller versions were launched.
The raised lettering and profile of Queen Elizabeth II hit the light wonderfully and bring a delightful dynamism to the image.
This drawing has been painstakingly rendered using stippling, a technique where the image slowly emerges out of the repeated application many thousands of very fine dots with a technical pen over many tens of hours.
This subtle method of drawing imbues the image with an unrivalled delicacy, displaying gentle tonal transitions uncharacteristic of works in pen and works brilliantly for describing the gentle folds of curling petals.
Made using the highest quality inks and paper to ensure many years of viewing enjoyment.
Paper size approx. 20.5 x 20.5 cm
Image size approx. 14.5 x 14.5 cm

Red Rose Stippling Drawing
I thought I would try out the Pigma Micron pens that I use in some of the other colours that they make. Here is a red rose. The colour is really great, it is hard to show in the video but there is a type of golden shimmer to it when the light hits from certain angles. Would you like to see more colourful drawings? There are plenty more pen colours to play with.
